SDS Club requested an amendment to the Declaration on the Pelješac Bridge

At the session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, a Declaration on the Pelješac Bridge was previously proposed, which has so far been signed by 24 representatives. In the Declaration, the representatives call on the competent authorities of the Republic of Croatia, i.e. the European Union, to immediately suspend all actions that could aim to diminish or completely abolish BiH's sovereign rights at sea.

The Declaration states that it is necessary to take legal action regarding the protection of Bosnia and Herzegovina's sovereign rights at sea.

Experts previously noted that the construction of the Pelješac Bridge would block Bosnia and Herzegovina's access to the open sea, thereby violating the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea by Croatia.

The European Union has already allocated 357 million euros for the Pelješac Bridge project, but from an interview given by European Commission spokesperson Johannes Bahrke to Večernji list, it can be inferred that Croatia still had to reach an agreement with BiH regarding this project.

The SDS Club has submitted its proposal for an amendment to the Declaration with four new points. Among other things, they are requesting that Croatia and the EU accelerate activities to secure funds for the construction of the bridge on the international road route across the Sava River near Gradiška, so that it can be built and put into international traffic as soon as possible.

It is also requested that the Republic of Croatia, i.e. the EU, recognize the significance and role of BiH in the preparation of documentation for the construction of the Adriatic-Ionian highway and agree on its route.

Point 11 requests the resolution of the border issue between BiH and Croatia, reminding of the difficult lives of the population in the area of the two Kostajnice.

Aleksandra Pandurević says she believes that insufficient communication between the two countries has led to problems.

- People have big problems because of the border issue. You have crossings on the Una River at 11 places. In Kostajnica, the border goes through half a house.

BiH parliamentarians will vote on this declaration today, while the SDS Club will support it if it is supplemented with their proposal.
