SDA Club in the BiH PA: Konaković Hides the Ruling Coalition's Responsibility with Lies

(Patria) - Elmedin Konaković's accusations that the SDA is "ready to destroy the European story for the sake of party interests" are a desperate attempt to hide his own and the ruling coalition's responsibility for the fact that they are unable to meet even the minimum conditions necessary for the opening of EU negotiations with BiH, announced the SDA Club in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament.

"Instead of trying to shift responsibility with lies, Konaković should align himself with his partners from the ruling coalition, at least approximately as effectively as they aligned themselves on the distribution of positions, and adopt the laws that the European Union has set before Bosnia and Herzegovina as a condition for making a decision on opening negotiations.

The president of People and Justice is probably trying to hide, in this way, the fact that delegates from his party and partners from SNSD and HDZ, based on the agreement from Laktaši, rejected the adoption of the Bill on Amendments to the Election Law of BiH concerning the integrity of the election process by urgent procedure at the last session of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA, which is one of the key conditions on the European path.

We call on the ruling coalition to finally take responsibility and for us to urgently adopt the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, the Law on Conflict of Interest, and the Law on Courts in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

The SDA's support for all laws that lead Bosnia and Herzegovina towards the EU and are aligned with European standards has never been lacking, nor will it be.

We also call on Konaković to explain to the public what kind of HDZ proposal for amendments to the Election Law of BiH he agreed to in order to take a ministerial seat and why he is hindering the European path by agreeing to negotiations on comprehensive amendments in circumstances where these amendments are not a condition for opening negotiations at all.

The failure to seize this opportunity for progress on the European path, if the three outlined laws are not adopted, will be the exclusive responsibility of the ruling coalition and confirmation that their personal and party statuses are a priority over the strategic foreign policy goal of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the SDA Club stated in a press release.
