Independent Bloc Club in Hadžići Municipal Council writes to the Government of Sarajevo Canton: Prevent the sale of Veliko Polje on Igman

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In an open letter, we call on the Government of Sarajevo Canton led by Prime Minister Edin Forto, as well as the parliamentary majority in the Sarajevo Canton, relevant ministries, the Sarajevo Canton Planning Institute, and the Hadžići Municipal Council to prevent the sale of Veliko Polje on Igman, states the letter signed on behalf of the Independent Bloc Councilors Club by its president Admir Mujanović.

"We request from the authorities to first resolve the legal status of this area, and only then to proceed with further activities regarding the adoption of urban plans and their approval. We call on the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton to declare this area of public importance/interest, to be assigned to the Hadžići municipality for management, or to the cantonal public company ZOI 84, with the possibility of public-private partnership or right of use, without the right to sell or other rights that could lead to a legal basis for acquiring ownership," the letter states.

In the explanation, they state that "the area of Veliko Polje on Igman is located in a water protection zone, and by acquiring ownership rights over it, the state loses control over this area and the investor could jeopardize the water supply of the city of Sarajevo."

"Furthermore, it is a well-known fact that this area has a high concentration of ozone, one of the highest in Europe, and citizens, by acquiring ownership rights from the investor, would lose free and unimpeded access to this area," the letter stated.
