Mustafa Cerić has a personal capacity, much more significant than these current leaders, his candidacy is a brave act, stated Stjepan Kljuić, wartime member of the Presidency of RBiH, and member of the City Council in Sarajevo, for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).
Kljuić commented on the announced decision of Cerić to run as an independent candidate for a member of the Presidency of BiH. According to him, that decision has its political context.
- Look, there are no dilemmas about the future of RS, Ivanić, Čavić, and Bosić think the same as Dodik. On the other hand, very complicated relations have emerged in the FBiH, first, in the relations between Bosniaks and Croats. Croats, who are completely marginalized, primarily due to Zagreb, but also by their own renunciation of Sarajevo and the state of BiH, have come into an inferior position. On the other hand, among Bosniaks, there is no concept of statehood at all. They have three leading parties, SDP, SDA, and the Party for a Better Future, which oppose each other, and it's always two against the third, which is reminiscent of Orwell's book "1984". – says Kljuić.
However, as he points out, apart from the struggle for power, they show no particularity or interest in the future of BiH citizens, especially "Bosniaks who are most scattered around the world and who have not found answers to key questions for returning to RS, which means cultivating land, paying taxes for uncultivated land, and most importantly now, the Law on Residence".
- Mr. Mustafa Cerić has a personal capacity, much more significant than these current leaders, he has so far, while he was the head of the Islamic Community, sometimes openly and sometimes discreetly helped and supported certain leaders of Bosniak parties. However, it is evident that he is not satisfied with what they have achieved. And despite the conditions to live comfortably and well, as former leaders who settled from Lovište in Croatia to Antalya in Turkey live and enjoy today, he decided to engage as an independent candidate, believing that he has the opportunity to support the creation of the state – Kljuić emphasized for Patria.
According to him, Bosniaks must know that religion can strengthen their religious identity, but they must seek their existence and future only in the state.
- That is why I think this is a brave act by Mustafa Cerić, and these politicians who immediately expressed their negative opinion about it have no idea that priests can also be active in politics, but they must clarify their professional attire. This means that efendi Cerić must leave his robe and become an ordinary citizen – he adds.
Kljuić states that there are many examples of former religious officials becoming prime ministers and heads of state.
- The current German president Joachim Gauck is a former priest, and the former Norwegian prime minister was a priest. Finally, we had the case in Cyprus where Archbishop Makarios, without taking off his vestments, was president for 20 years. That is not an obstacle at all – Kljuić emphasized.
Dr. Cerić announced a press conference for tomorrow at the Bristol Hotel, where he will announce his decision to run to the public.
