Landslide interrupts water supply: VIK and Municipality of Vogošća services on site

(Patria) - Heavier rainfall has activated a landslide on Muje Šejte street up to number 77, where, by order of the Inspectorate of the Municipality of Vogošća, this part of the road in the Ugorsko settlement of Vogošća is currently closed to traffic.



The Civil Protection of the Municipality of Vogošća has taken all legally necessary measures, and due to the fact that the active landslide has interrupted the water supply for about 100 households, teams from KJKP Vodovod i kanalizacija Sarajevo are on site along with municipal services.

By installing a new bypass, the water supply to the aforementioned households in the Ugorsko settlement should be normalized within the next few hours.

In addition to the municipal services and workers of KJPK Vodovod i kanalizacija Sarajevo, the situation on the ground is also being monitored by the Mayor of the Municipality of Vogošća, Migdad Hasanović.

– Unfortunately, we are a municipality that knows very well the danger posed by landslides, and in the past, we have always managed to resolve and remediate such situations properly. Unlike other natural disasters, landslides are quite unpredictable. The most important thing is that we reacted immediately to protect human lives and prevent further damage – said Mayor Hasanović, adding:

– Competent services are on site, the situation is being assessed, and initial soil stabilization measures are being taken. In the coming period, the focus will be on permanent remediation of the landslide. At the same time, we remain in constant contact with citizens and provide them with all necessary support in these circumstances.

For the permanent remediation of this landslide, the design for the stabilization of the road itself is underway, and an opinion for investigative works is currently awaited from the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton.
