Klas begins this year's wheat purchase

Bosnian food industry Klas will this year strive to purchase as much domestic quality wheat as possible. In this regard, Klas invites agricultural producers from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina to announce their quantities, so they can be recorded in the database, reports the Patria news agency.

- Last autumn we announced that we are ready to try to meet all our needs for quality grains, fruits and vegetables first from domestic producers. In this way, we invite farmers' associations, cooperatives, individual producers and farms to contact us.

Our annual needs for wheat are 90,000 tons, and our storage capacities are 110,000 tons. We want to contribute in this way to reducing dependence on imports of primary agricultural products, primarily wheat - said the director of the company Klas d.d. Sarajevo, Rusmir Hrvić.

Cash payments for purchased quantities of wheat will be made immediately upon delivery. This year alone, Klas will allocate around 40 million KM to meet its own needs for grains, fruits and vegetables.

- We would like, if possible, for all these funds to remain in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Only by buying domestic products throughout the entire production chain, from the field, through the processing industry, to domestic brands on store shelves, we actually have a chance to be competitive on the market, and at the same time create conditions for a better standard for workers, farmers, professors, doctors, and students, but also for preserving existing and creating new jobs.

With the acquisition of Klas last year by AS GROUP, a large system was created in this sense that can mean a new successful start for the development of the entire food industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is a chance for all of us, I am convinced that we will use it - concludes Hrvić.
