Collective funeral held in Kukavice settlement near Rogatica: 33 years of searching and not giving up

(Patria) - At the Surovi cemetery in the settlement of Kukavice, the Islamic Community (MIZ) of Rogatica held a collective funeral prayer today for four victims killed on June 1, 1992, during the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The youngest victim is seven-year-old Kulić Amela, which clearly illustrates the brutality of the crime and criminal motives.

Reflecting on this fact, the mufti of Goražde, Remzija-ef. Pitić, reminded that such crimes are also addressed in Quranic texts, citing the scene of a girl who will ask on Judgment Day why she was killed for what sin.

– Our Amela will ask, when humanity gathers on Judgment Day: "What was my fault that I didn't have the right to live?" Just as the children of Gaza, the children of Sarajevo, and all the children of this world who did not have the right to live because they had a slightly different name and looked slightly different will ask – noted mufti Pitić.

He warned that a great civilizational question should be directed towards finding answers about what happens in homes and surroundings that produces so much evil in people that they can even kill children.

– That should be a serious question for those who have been producing such monsters for centuries and who have never said: "We are sorry." or "Not in our name." That is a question for those who agree with all the crimes committed by members of their nation. That is a serious question for them, for their tomorrow and their day after tomorrow – emphasized mufti Pitić.

Amela's father, Mustafa, had no words to describe today and his own feelings. The weight of the moment and life after the crime is impossible to describe, but, as he says, he will at least know where he buried his daughter and where he can visit.

A funeral prayer was also held for Kulić Hajrija, née Vražalica; Kulić Suljo and Kulić Šaha, née Turković.

Suljo and Šaha's son, Rasim, searched for his parents' bones for 33 years. Hopes, effort, and perseverance were contained within that period.

– They were taken across from our village, to a location quite close by. They were killed there and the barn was set on fire. We cannot bring them back, but we must speak and warn. It is difficult to talk about, but it is our obligation. Towards them and towards all who come – Rasim told us.

The main imam of MIZ Rogatica, Amel-ef. Kozlić, also attended the funeral, reminding of the status of a martyr's sacrifice with Allah, the Almighty, but also of the lasting admonition and warning that the memory of committed crimes should carry.
