Bayram prayer performed in mosques across BiH and the world

This morning, Bayram prayer was performed in mosques across Bosnia and Herzegovina, marking the beginning of one of the biggest Muslim holidays, Kurban Bayram. The central Bayram ceremony was held at the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The Bayram prayer was led by the Rais al-Ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, who in his Bayram sermon called on Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Catholics, and Jews to work on raising families, educating children, and preserving community.

- It is the duty of Muslim men and women to establish a family and lead a virtuous family life, full of love and respect. It is also a duty to raise children, educate them in the spirit of faith, and provide them with an education. Alija, may God be pleased with him, long ago pointed out the correct relationship of parents and society towards the younger generations when he said: 'Raise your children for the time in which they will live, not for the time in which you live' - Kavazović conveyed.

Ef. Kavazović also stated that people, and Muslims in particular, need internal dialogue, a conversation of equals and reasonable people, not a monologue and exclusivity.

- We need much more patience and respect in order to hear and understand each other. Only Allah knows who is in the truth and who is in error! Let no Muslim take it upon themselves to judge what is known only to Allah! We must react decisively to the mistakes in our society. It is the obligation of institutions and individuals to turn away from evil and wrongdoings. Let us protect what is ours, responsibly, honorably, and with dignity, just as our ancestors did - Kavazović said in his Bayram sermon.

According to him, there is no easy path in the struggle for universal values and survival.

- Let us protect the freedom, security, and dignity of our people and our Islamic Community. We must listen to what our friends say, but we must make decisions ourselves, guided by our own experience and a correct understanding of our path and our interests. The days of Kurban Bayram are days of sacrifice. In these days, we remember all the sacrifices we have made and that our people have made in the past - Kavazović emphasized.

In his Bayram sermon, Rais Kavazović also remembered the martyrs whose lives are the greatest legacy we must preserve and emulate.

- I call on you for mutual solidarity and the fulfillment of undertaken obligations. Each of us must show responsibility for the trust placed in them. A person is, first and foremost, a being of responsibility - Kavazović conveyed, adding that it is the obligation of BiH citizens to go to the polls and vote.

- I am sure that Muslims will know how to recognize those who advocate for the freedom, dignity, prosperity, strength, and unity of our people from those who are intrusive. Let none of us miss this opportunity to go to the polls and vote according to our conscience. Only in this way can we claim the full responsibility of the elected to care for the values of our people and homeland of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to work for the benefit of all people living in it - Kavazović said.

At the end of the sermon, Rais Kavazović congratulated Kurban Bayram to all believers of the Islamic faith in their homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and the diaspora with the words: Bayram Šerif Mubarek Olsun.
