Betting shops under scrutiny: Tax Administration of FBiH imposed almost one million KM in fines in March

(Patria) - The Tax Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina conducted 1,062 inspections of gambling operators - betting shops - in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in March 2026. The subject of the inspection controls was the verification of compliance with the Law on the Tax Administration of FBiH, the Law on Gambling, the Law on the Unified System of Registration, Control and Collection of Contributions, the Law on Contributions, the Law on Fiscal Systems, as well as other tax laws.

Due to identified irregularities, misdemeanor orders were issued in 241 conducted controls, with a total of 949,550 KM in fines imposed.

The results of the conducted inspections on a sample of a total of 1,062 controlled betting shops showed that 23% of taxpayers did not align their operations with the valid laws in the Federation of BiH. A review of the conducted controls and issued misdemeanor orders is presented by cantons.

In the Canton of Sarajevo, 180 controls were carried out, of which 36 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with a total of 170,700 KM in fines.

In the Tuzla Canton, 164 controls were carried out, and 58 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with a total of 203,000 KM in fines.

In the Zenica-Doboj Canton, 185 controls were carried out, and 41 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with a total of 146,500 KM in fines.

In the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, 171 inspections were carried out, of which 18 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with fines totaling 67,000 KM.

In the Central Bosnia Canton, 104 controls were carried out, and 42 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with a total of 198,150 KM in fines.

In the West Herzegovina Canton, 74 controls were carried out, during which 8 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with a total of 28,000 KM in fines.

In the Una-Sana Canton, 108 controls were carried out, where 16 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with a total of 62,000 KM in fines. In Canton 10, 41 controls were carried out, of which 13 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with a total of 42,700 KM in fines.

In the Bosniak-Podrinje Canton, 11 controls were carried out, and 2 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with a total of 7,000 KM in fines.

In the Posavina Canton, 27 controls were carried out, during which 7 controls resulted in the issuance of misdemeanor orders with fines totaling 24,500 KM.

The Tax Administration of the Federation of BiH will continue to conduct intensified inspection supervision in the coming period with the aim of ensuring legal operations and combating the grey economy. Taxpayers are therefore urged to align their operations with valid laws.
