(Patria) - After May 15 of the current year, KJKP "Toplane – Sarajevo" d.o.o. Sarajevo, each calendar year during the non-heating season, and according to the previously adopted Plan for overhaul and Plan of investment maintenance, carries out a series of activities aimed at better preparation for the upcoming heating season, which begins no later than October 15.
In this context, the Management of KJKP "Toplane - Sarajevo" d.o.o. has decisively embarked on the largest project in the last 20 years, "Reconstruction of the Zvijezda boiler room and hydraulic optimization of the boiler room's operation," with the aim of reducing negative environmental impacts, reducing CO2 emissions into the air, providing better service to its users who are supplied with thermal energy from the "Zvijezda" boiler room, impacting greater energy efficiency, as well as contributing to the development of infrastructure throughout the Sarajevo Canton area.
The equipment currently installed in the boiler room is over 30 years old, and the circulation pumps are oversized, causing problems of unacceptable levels of pollutant emissions, irrational consumption of electricity, high noise levels, and a large number of breakdowns.
All of the above results in significant air and environmental pollution, as well as the generation of environmentally harmful waste during equipment overhaul. The implementation of this project through the installation of modern equipment will lead to a reduction in electricity consumption by at least 25% and gas consumption by at least 15% annually, and consequently to a significant reduction of the aforementioned negative impacts.
"The complete reconstruction of the 'Zvijezda' boiler room with a thermal capacity of 12 MW involves the installation of new modern equipment, as well as automatic hydraulic optimization of the boiler room's operation. The boiler room will be connected to the existing remote control and management system of the District Heating - SCADA system. Natural gas is retained as the primary fuel, and extra light heating oil (ELHO) as the alternative fuel, as well as the existing chimney.
Responding positively to the set requirements, by reconstructing the old boiler plants, we confirm that KJKP "Toplane – Sarajevo" d.o.o. Sarajevo continuously invests efforts to provide its users with the highest quality service, we are working extensively on protecting the human environment, contributing to reducing the level of pollution in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina in general, as well as developing a safe, environmentally acceptable and economical way of heating," said Sejfo Ušanović, director of KJKP Toplane-Sarajevo.
