Rain refreshes graves in Potočari every year

Every year, on the night before the burial of Srebrenica victims, or on the burial day itself, July 11, rain falls on Potočari, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

That was the case last night as well. Although the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute had earlier announced that July would be the hottest month of the year, far above average, with true tropical heat, the rain did not stop falling until late last night. And, according to forecasts from hydrometeorological stations, rainy weather is expected during the day as well.

Those who came today to bury their loved ones, or simply to pay their respects to the victims, see great symbolism in this.

Munira Subašić from the Association „Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves“ told the Patria news agency that she sees great symbolism in this and confirmation that even the sky weeps for the murdered victims.

- Rain falls every year on the burial day, or the night before – says Subašić.

- This is a clear sign from dear God that the victims lying here are innocent. These are tears, not raindrops. These are the tears of mothers mourning for their sons. Pay attention, rain will, God willing, always fall here on July 11 – said Subašić, writes Patria.

The burial of victims at the cemetery in Potočari was first carried out in 2003. Even then, rain refreshed the graves into which the innocent Srebrenica victims were laid, writes Patria.
