Dr. Kenan Mulahusić, one of the most renowned chiropractors from Sweden, originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, has denied claims that Edin Džeko can recover by the time of the Bosnia and Herzegovina match against Israel, even if he received adequate medical care.
- For the injury Džeko has, at least two weeks of recovery are needed – confirmed Mulahusić for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).
The doctor of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, Dr. Reuf Karabeg, yesterday definitively confirmed that Džeko has a rupture of the right leg muscle (the attachment of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle to the Achilles tendon). It is a serious injury that cannot be healed by the start of the match against Israel.
However, news quickly spread in Bosnia and Herzegovina that Džeko could still play against Israel if he received adequate medical care.
- If it is a "muscle rupture", the chances of a player recovering quickly are minimal. It takes about two weeks for an average rupture to heal, and additional time for rehabilitation should be added. Very few ruptures can heal in a week – said Dr. Mulahusić.
