Kilometer-long queues at border crossings with Croatia

(Patria) - Long queues of vehicles are present at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings: Izačić, Hadžin Potok, Velika Kladuša, Novi Grad, Kostajnica, Kozarska Dubica, Gradina, Gradiška, Brod and Orašje. Increased frequency of vehicles at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Svilaj and Šepak border crossings. At other border crossings, delays are up to 30 minutes, according to BIHAMK.

Movement of all vehicles across the bridge on the Dobro Polje-Miljevina main road is prohibited. Vehicles with a total mass of up to 3.5 tons can use the roads via Kalinovik (there is 19 km of macadam road) and Grebak, while trucks must go via Rogatica and Goražde.

Construction of a noise barrier is underway on the A-1 Sarajevo sjever-Podlugovi highway section, due to which traffic is diverted to the overtaking lane. Traffic for vehicles up to 3.5 tons is allowed on the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

Due to frequent landslides, we highlight the sections: Bihać-Srbljani-Bosanska Krupa, Donji Vakuf–Jajce–Crna Rijeka–Banja Luka, Turbe-Karanovac, Bugojno-Kupres, Jablanica-Prozor, Konjic-Jablanica-Mostar-Doljani and Rogatica-Višegrad. We also warn of occasional strong gusts of wind. We advise cautious driving and mandatory possession of winter equipment.

Due to passenger registration under the new European Union entry and exit system (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays at border crossings are possible.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. From December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all categories of vehicles. Traffic for all trucks is prohibited at the Šepak border crossing.
