Kemal Lepić: Skenderija Director Left Me Without a Livelihood

Kemal Lepić has been unemployed for over a year. In an extensive interview with the Patria News Agency Patria, he stated that the director of the "Skenderija" Center forced him into retirement illegally, which he has been unable to claim for a year, effectively pushing him to the brink of existence.

Lepić said that as an employee of the state-owned company "Skenderija" Center, he performed installation work for central heating, cooling systems, etc., after working hours and on weekends, as instructed by the head of Skenderija, Hajriz Bećirović, for which Lepić was supposed to receive a fee. He claims this amounts to several thousand KM. When it was time for payment, instead of his fee, Lepić claims the director handed him his termination notice.

- In February 2012, the roof of the ice hall in Skenderija collapsed. At that time, among other things, the heating pipes in the premises of the company "Tabriz carpets" were damaged, who are tenants in Skenderija. Director Bećirović engaged me to fix their heating, for which I was supposed to receive a fee. I did everything flawlessly, and I worked outside of my regular hours. The people from Tabriz were satisfied – Lepić claims.

- After that, I was engaged as a consultant for the company "Murai-Komerc", which was hired to clean Skenderija after the roof collapse. I was supposed to receive a fee for that as well. I quit a month after the workers of this company entered Skenderija because I noticed that there was a large-scale crime involved. No one kept records of where the extremely valuable iron from the roof was disappearing. I went to Director Bećirović and asked him to pay me the promised money and to relieve me of my duties as a consultant for the debris cleanup. Instead of money, I received a termination notice – says Lepić.

Skenderija justified Lepić's termination by stating that he had met the conditions for retirement and was therefore being dismissed. Lepić says he does not have enough years of service or work experience to receive a pension, which is why he has been without pay for a year.

The media previously reported that criminal activity worth several hundred thousand KM was committed during the cleanup of the collapsed Skenderija roof.

Lepić has filed a lawsuit against Skenderija due to the entire situation he found himself in, writes Patria.
