Kebo: After the floods, I am sure, I am going to the BiH Presidency!

The Vice President of the Federation of BiH, Mirsad Kebo, stated for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) that after the floods and landslides that hit BiH, he is even more sure that his decision to run for a member of the BiH Presidency in the October elections is the right one.

He does not want to comment on other candidates who have announced their candidacy, or those expected to run in the upcoming elections, such as Bakir Izetbegović.

He says that only after the official procedure for announcing candidates is completed, and after the candidates present their platforms, will he clearly define his position towards them. Commenting on the floods that have struck our country, Kebo believes that the state has failed in many areas.

- There is no perfect system for acting in such situations. This is the biggest natural disaster that has hit Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, that the state could and should have done more is undeniable – Kebo told Patria.

He explains that he is now advocating for the responsibility of institutions at all levels of government responsible for this area to be determined, starting from Civil Protection to commodity reserves.

- A few years ago, I insisted on personnel changes and projects for the efficient use of civil protection funds. This natural disaster will change the course of events in our country, as resources, industry, agriculture, and jobs have been destroyed... The state cannot overcome this without international aid. It is not possible with these people and this system. Only corruption, which has already taken hold, can escalate – says Kebo.

For him, the greatest heroes during the last few days are ordinary citizens who have shown solidarity with the affected areas. However, it is clear that they will not solve the key problems in the affected areas.

- I am a realistic person. In about ten to twenty days, new needs will arise for the unfortunate people, which someone needs to satisfy. Because these people are not receiving salaries – warns Kebo.

He adds that he believes that the future can be built on the foundations of ruins, but he is not sure if it will be possible with most of the people currently in power in BiH.
