KCUS has no isolation unit, and they don't even know where it should be: Conflicting information alarms the public

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Although patients infected with coronavirus must be urgently placed in isolation, Bosnia and Herzegovina could face a major problem in the event of a confirmed infectious disease in our country due to the lack of an isolation unit. 

Particularly confusing are the contradictory information coming from the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo. Namely, Rusmir Baljić, head of the Infectious Diseases Clinic at KCUS, recently told Klix that the Crisis Staff of Sarajevo Canton adopted a conclusion to urgently find adequate space in the Sarajevo Canton area that would meet the stated conditions.

"Currently, the proposal is to establish the isolation unit within the premises of the General Hospital 'Prim.dr Abdulah Nakaš', in the space used by the VSTV, owned by the Ministry of Defense of BiH, with an alternative proposal being the construction of a temporary facility within the Rajlovac Barracks," adds Baljić, as published on February 3, 2020.

Thus, they proposed the isolation unit in the strict city center. 

However, at the third meeting of the directors' board on the danger of the spread of the coronavirus on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 31, it was concluded, as visible on the KCUS website, that the isolation unit should be located away from populated areas. 

„Checkpoints must be organized at all major entrances to the city (airport, railway station, etc.). Health centers and the General Hospital 'Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš', as primary and secondary levels of healthcare, must also participate in forming 24-hour checkpoints,“ it was stated.

Different interpretations within just a few days leave room for speculation that no one in BiH knows what would happen if, God forbid, the coronavirus arrives.
