KCUS remains a burning issue in 2020: Poor treatment conditions and exodus of specialist doctors

(Patria) - A thematic session of the House of Representatives of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the state of healthcare and the situation at KCUS will be held on January 28, 2019, starting at 11:00 AM.

The request for the thematic session was submitted on November 21 by the caucuses of SDP BiH, Our Party, People and Justice, Independent Bloc, A-SDA, and PDA in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They proposed only one item on the agenda: "The situation at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo with special reference to patient treatment conditions and the exodus of a large number of specialist doctors."

In the explanation of the request, signed by more than 20 representatives, it is stated that the public in Bosnia and Herzegovina witnesses alarming information daily about events at KCUS, along with numerous statements and testimonies from patients and doctors.

"Furthermore, information is published daily about the departure of specialist doctors who are leaving KCUS due to disrupted interpersonal relationships, mobbing, intimidation, blackmail, and threats. All of this is happening without any reaction from the Federal Ministry of Health and the Government of the FBiH, which silently observes these events," the request states.

The parliamentarians note that it is high time for the Ministry of Health and the Government of the FBiH to start fulfilling their legal obligations and inform the Parliament of the FBiH about the situation at KCUS, in order to adopt conclusions and measures to stop the obvious and numerous irregularities in the largest clinical institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina and protect the citizens being treated there.

Every day, more and more dissatisfied patients file complaints, and it will certainly be interesting to see how the general director, who is also a representative in this House of the Parliament of the FBiH, will respond to the difficult situation.
