Fines up to 2,000 KM for non-compliance with self-isolation recommendations

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - If you have been in places where the epidemic is spreading or have had close contact with a person infected with this virus in the past 14 days, it is very important to isolate yourself from other people, even if no symptoms have appeared.

If a person is in self-isolation, it means they do not go to work, school, or any other public place. 

Self-isolation basically means staying in your own home for 14 days, regularly measuring your temperature, and regularly contacting your doctor to monitor your condition and to, if everything is fine, terminate the health supervision.

Crisis headquarters instructed persons who have stayed in countries threatened by the new coronavirus infection in the last 14 days (especially China, Italy, South Korea, and Iran, as well as all other threatened areas), and who have not undergone sanitary control at border crossings and have not been issued a decision on health supervision/self-isolation, to mandatory call the competent epidemiological service of the KS Public Health Institute by phone on the open phone numbers, in order to establish health supervision and maintain a register. 

Failure to implement this measure for the protection of the population from infectious diseases is subject to criminal liability.

Fines for non-compliance with the aforementioned recommendations, especially the decisions issued by the sanitary inspection at airports, range from 100 to 2,000 KM in accordance with the Law on Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases.

Fines even apply to children, with the fines being issued to parents or guardians.

Article 3 states that protection from infectious diseases is the duty of local self-government units - municipalities, cantons, and the Federation, healthcare institutions, health insurance funds, private practice holders, business companies, and other legal and natural persons. 

All natural and legal persons must allow health and hygiene examinations and consultations, as well as preliminary medical examinations and supervision, collection of necessary findings, and implementation of other measures for protection from infectious diseases listed in this Law.

If people infected with 2019-nCoV are tested and diagnosed in time, and strict infection control measures are implemented, the probability of successful human-to-human transmission among the European population is low. Systematic implementation of prevention and control measures has proven effective in controlling SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV viruses.
