Kazazović: We will examine the remarks regarding the revision of curricula for mother tongue in Sarajevo Canton

Following remarks and criticism regarding the revision of curricula for mother tongue and literature for schools in Sarajevo Canton, which appeared in some media and questions received by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton on this matter, the Ministry informs the public that it will review this issue as soon as possible and take appropriate steps within its jurisdiction, reports the Patria News Agency.

- The revision process was coordinated by the Educational-Pedagogical Institute as a professional-pedagogical body within the Ministry, and the curricula were developed by the Expert Commission for the amendment of curricula for primary and secondary schools for the subject Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian Language and Literature, appointed by the Ministry upon the proposal of the Active for Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian Language and Literature. These are specialized professional issues, and the Ministry trusted the expert commission and all other professional participants involved in this process.

Valuing expertise, the Ministry therefore did not interfere in specialized professional issues or make decisions regarding this matter. As the public is aware, the Ministry is continuously, intensively, and successfully working on resolving many problems and improving the education system in Sarajevo Canton at all levels and in all aspects, as evidenced by concrete results. For the Ministry, the curriculum reform and the reform of modern curricula for all subjects and at all levels of education are particularly important, which is why it initiated the process of revising curricula at all levels of education.

Therefore, we consider it completely unacceptable for curricula to contain any errors or other omissions, regardless of their nature, and that all potential problems must be resolved as soon as possible in the best interest of students and the profession.

Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian languages and literature are important for all peoples and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, so this issue should be approached with special care.
