Christians around the world today celebrate the feast of All Saints, when all saints are honored, both those officially canonized by the Church and those believed to be holy, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
Catholics celebrate it on November 1, while in Orthodox churches this feast is celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost, marking the end of the Easter part of the liturgical year.
On All Saints' Day, holy masses are held in churches and cemeteries. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, on All Saints' Day, masses are held for all those who died in the defensive-liberation war. Traditionally, wreaths are laid and candles are lit at cemeteries in Sarajevo and Mostar.
The celebration of the feast of All Saints in the Christian tradition dates back to the 4th century.
