Katica: We accelerated the procurement of helicopters for MUP KS

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of MUP KS Admir Katica today responded to questions from the KS Assembly deputies regarding planned funds for MUP in 2022. For the Ministry of Internal Affairs KS, the procurement of helicopters worth 17 million KM is planned, and more than 8 million KM is planned for equipment procurement.

"This budget provides financial resources for police uniforms of around 1.5 million KM. I hope that legal prerequisites will also be created to resolve this issue. The procurement of new protective equipment, ammunition, individual equipment, equipment for cyclists, motorcyclists, ski equipment, individual and collective equipment, and the production of official identification cards and badges for the police are planned. We have secured funds for the training of 200 cadets, and I believe that in the spring we will have a new call for junior inspectors as well," said Katica.

He added that the procurement of computer equipment, cars, and special vehicles is planned.

Funds are also planned for the renewal of MUP KS armaments, especially for the Special Support Unit.

Regarding the Helicopter Unit, Katica emphasized that it is a priority project of the parliamentary majority for this mandate period.

"The feasibility study has been adopted, it is a strategic project for both the Government and MUP, we want our citizens to use it when we need to transport injured, sick, endangered individuals, or for assistance in extinguishing fires. This is a project that we have only accelerated and want to implement as soon as possible so that our citizens have this resource for use," he said.

He also responded to the question about the construction of a new MUP KS building, i.e., the Police Directorate.

"That facility is a VIK facility located in Kolodvorska Street. After removing administrative obstacles, we will also secure financial resources for its construction. Since 2015, there has been a trend of increasing the MUP KS budget and maximizing the work of the Police Directorate," said Katica.
