(Patria) - Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton (KS) Admir Katica held a meeting today with the acting director of the Federal Agency for Management of Seized Property Emir Bašić.
The topic of the meeting was cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS and the Federal Agency for Management of Seized Property, and finding a model for improving cooperation and allocating seized property for use by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS.
In this regard, several concrete proposals were presented, for which the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS will send letters of intent to the competent authorities in the coming period, with the aim of ensuring the best possible conditions for police structures, and providing space for work.
Minister Katica stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS is one of the main partners of the prosecutor's office in the fight against organized crime, and that this cooperation will continue in the future.
- I believe that it is fully justified and reasonable for the seized property managed by the Federal Agency for Management of Seized Property to be allocated for use by institutions fighting crime.
This would be of great importance for our police. In this way, we would get adequate spaces for work, as well as equipment, technology, and everything that is subject to seizure, and which individuals have illegally acquired - said Katica.
Bašić emphasized that this initiative is fully justified, and that the Agency is available for any kind of cooperation.
- The Agency has the legal possibility to sell seized property, as well as to lease it.
We will make maximum efforts to adopt amendments to the law that would allow seized property to be allocated, or donated, for the work of institutions such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS.
I believe it would be of great importance to strengthen police structures with seized vehicles or equipment, which would certainly improve their work, and seized property would serve its purpose through direct application for the benefit of society - stated Bašić.
He added that the Federal Agency for Management of Seized Property will submit amendments to the law to the procedure by the end of this year, which will enable the allocation of seized property to institutions.
The meeting was also attended by Maja Bjelan-Karčić, expert advisor for the takeover and management of companies in the Federal Agency for Management of Seized Property.
