Karić: Sarajevo Bypass is Proof that BiH Has Capable Construction Workers

The opening of the Sarajevo Bypass tonight at 8:00 PM near the Vlakovo viaduct is much more than just a construction project that will ease access to the capital of BiH, and which has provided jobs for several hundred workers over the past two years, according to all relevant BiH experts, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The Sarajevo Bypass was built by domestic companies Euro-asfalt and ŽGP, thereby gaining references that put them on an equal footing with international competitor firms. 

Many international companies with global references, such as Slovenia's SCT, Primorje, and Croatia's Osijek-Koteks, tried their hand at the Sarajevo Bypass, but none of these companies managed to complete this section of the first BiH highway. Not until BiH companies took matters into their own hands.  

By building the nine-kilometer-long section, which connects the completed highway from Zenica to Vogošća with the part of the highway being built from Sarajevo towards Herzegovina, and whose construction cost around 36.8 million KM, domestic know-how built this bypass on time and to the highest world standards.

Ensad Karić, director of the Public Company Motorways of the Federation of BiH, says that this project means not only less congestion when entering the capital of BiH, but also a driving force that has opened the door to a better future for BiH construction workers.

- Our companies like Euro-asfalt and ŽGP, which worked on the construction of the Sarajevo Bypass, have gained references after such projects that enable them to participate in tenders anywhere in the world, regardless of how large the projects are – says Karić.

- We took over the construction of this section two years ago, and then in just ten months we built a highway on which vehicles will now travel smoothly. This tells us only one thing, and that is that our country has capable and hardworking people – adds Karić.

The Sarajevo Bypass is the most significant transport infrastructure project in the last 30 years in Sarajevo, writes Patria.
