Karić: 20% of the value of the 1st of March tunnel was paid by the Slovenians

At the end of this month, JP Autoceste will open six new kilometers of highway for traffic, which will include the opening of the 1st of March tunnel, writes the Patria News Agency.

As Ensad Karić, director of JP Autoceste, told NAP, the total value of the constructed 1st of March tunnel is 62 million euros, of which 11.5 million euros were secured from collected guarantees of Slovenian contractors.

- The 1st of March tunnel is the longest and most modern tunnel in the region. The interior of the tunnel is illuminated with special LED lighting, and it is fully covered by video surveillance that will detect even the smallest problem in the tunnel – says Karić.

Otherwise, the construction of the highway has reduced the distance and travel time between Zenica and Sarajevo, bringing these two economic centers closer than ever before.
