Karamehić-Abazović, who voted for Košarac, has no right to lecture the opposition on morality

Mia Karamehić-Abazović, a Member of Parliament for Narod i Pravda, served the citizens of BiH a generous portion of populism this morning, criticizing the opposition with claims not based on facts, but on a narrative that can be easily refuted in a single sentence.

Individuals who supported the appointment of Staša Košarac as minister, despite knowing about his history of domestic violence, have no right to lecture others on morality.

And so, Karamehić-Abazović may be entirely right when she says that the initiative to dismiss Košarac is political populism, but she must also be aware that her actions are very tangible, as her vote in favor of Košarac was a concrete act.

Abazović justified herself by saying that the proponents of the initiative, or the letter, did not even invite her to sign it, but she did not answer whether she would have signed it if they had invited her. It is unlikely, because her previous support for such a composition of the BiH Council of Ministers proved that Karamehić-Abazović, and even her other female colleagues from the parliamentary benches, do not mind a minister who is an abuser.

And perhaps the opposition made a whole media spectacle, but the 23 hands raised in favor of appointing the BiH Council of Ministers, as it is, enabled the opposition to act. And they have plenty of room to do so, because there are extremely peculiar individuals in the ministerial seats.

Karamehić-Abazović also does not dispute that 'there is not much official information about the accusations Sanja Stanković made against her ex-husband', she does not question how that is possible and if the system is broken, but defends herself with the fact that they were provided with biographies and that no proceedings are being conducted against them.

Karamehić-Abazović would also seek the opinion of the Ombudsman for Human Rights, and would like to get the opinion of the Ministry of Human Rights, but all of this is too late.

Too late, because all doubts about Košarac's violence were known even before his appointment. Now that the House of Peoples is controlled by SNSD, and thus protects Košarac from dismissal, any discussion is superfluous.

The NIP representative will eventually admit that any pressure on an abuser, regardless of whether it is institutional, social, or legislative, has a positive impact on society, and thus a collective condemnation of Košarac in the House of Representatives would also have a positive impact.

It would have been most effective if her support for the appointment had been absent, but it was not, which is why she and her colleagues are now defending themselves by attacking the opposition for populism. The opposition that provided them with this information even during the session when they raised their hands.

Therefore, it is best for them to remain silent now, because their defense can also be called populism, and any further discussion would be further humiliation, as time cannot be turned back, nor can Košarac be dismissed. And for all of this, thanks are due precisely to the 'trio', who lacked the strength and will to set red lines with their partners in power.

It is worth repeating the stance of Aleksandra Pandurević, if nothing else for Aida Baručija, who, despite being a member of the ruling coalition, put her signature on it.

"Is it possible that four women, feminists, consider it normal for a minister to be an abuser and did not sign the initiative for dismissal!? These are: Sabina Ćudić, Rejhana Dervišević, Mia Karamehić-Abazović, and Ermina Salkičević Dizdarević. Baručija is the only one who showed she is a human being.

And these four ladies, may they never speak again about femicide and violence against women, because today they showed what they truly think about it and how much empathy they lack. As long as women protect abusers, there will be no progress!"
