CANTON SARAJEVO 507 new coronavirus infections confirmed, one person died

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to the data of the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton, in the past day 507 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the Sarajevo Canton, after 1,781 laboratory samples were tested. In the same period, 361 people recovered from the Covid-19 infection. One person died from the consequences of this disease.

Currently, 141 patients are hospitalized, of which 128 have an acute infection, while the others are post-covid or under observation/triage.

The share of unvaccinated persons in the number of hospitalized patients is 71.63 percent.

91 patients are being treated at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, and 50 at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš”. 12 people are on respirators, nine are using non-invasive ventilation, and five patients are on oxygen support for breathing.

The Sarajevo Canton today records 3,360 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Currently, 4,691 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 75,138 people infected with coronavirus have been recorded in the Sarajevo Canton, while 70,098 have recovered.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected is 465, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of patients per 100,000 inhabitants, is 773", according to the data of the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton.
In the Covid clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of the Sarajevo Canton, 578 patients were examined, of which five were transported to hospital treatment.

A total of 2,056 PCR swabs were taken at drive-in points and in Covid clinics. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and in Novi Grad and Semizovac work every day from 07:30 to 20:00 hours.

The Covid call center recorded 1,115 calls, and 446 conversations with patients were conducted via telephone numbers in the Covid clinics.

During yesterday, a total of 1,440 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered.

The Ministry of Health of the Sarajevo Canton appeals to citizens to get vaccinated, in order to preserve their own health and the health of people around them. Also, they thank citizens for their cooperation, and invite them to continue to respect all prescribed hygienic-epidemiological measures.
