Sarajevo Canton Must Pay 28,000 KM for Plenums

Chairwoman of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly Mirjana Malić told the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) that the Sarajevo Canton received an invoice of 28,000 KM from KSC "Skenderija" for the month of February due to holding plenums in the Youth Centre.

Information appeared in the media today that the Assembly banned the use of the Youth Centre for holding plenums.

Malić told NAP that the Sarajevo Canton Assembly does not have the authority to approve the use of the Youth Centre for holding plenums.

- The Sarajevo Canton Assembly did not allow them to use the Youth Centre for the entire month of February for the first time. We do not have that authority, but we asked the KS Government to provide funds for February. We no longer have money in the budget. Now we have instructed the director of KSC "Skenderija" that if the representatives of the plenum contact them for future use, they should resolve it. We, as the Assembly, are not responsible for public enterprises, but the Government is – says Malić.

Member of the group of citizens appearing at the plenums, Admir Arnautović, stated that the Sarajevo Canton Assembly does not allow the use of the Youth Centre within KSC "Skenderija".

As the Chairwoman of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly Mirjana Malić told us in an interview, even the OSCE called her to ask why the use of the Youth Centre for tonight's plenum meeting was banned. Malić states that although the Sarajevo Canton Assembly wanted to establish social dialogue with the representatives of the plenum, it did not happen.

- We received a mandate, made ourselves available to the representatives of the plenum, but we did not have a dialogue partner. We, as the Assembly, did not even receive a request to open the doors of the Youth Centre for them. What appears in some media is not official communication for me. The fact that something is a public space does not mean that anyone can enter whenever they want and do whatever they want – says Malić for NAP.
