Candidate for CIP Management Board Convicted for Negligent Work

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Centre for Information and Recognition of Documents in Higher Education (CIP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina will soon have a new Management Board, which needs to be confirmed by the Council of Ministers at one of its upcoming sessions.

In accordance with the Framework Law on Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Centre for Information and Recognition of Documents in Higher Education is managed by a Management Board consisting of seven members. 

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina elects the members of the Management Board after a public competition based on parity. This means that two representatives from each constituent nation and one representative of national minorities are elected to the Management Board.

Bojan Golić, former director of the Investment-Development Bank of Republika Srpska, who was convicted in 2010 to four months in prison for the criminal offense of negligent work in office, thereby causing damage to the RS of at least 1.3 million KM, also applied for a position on the CIP Management Board.

Following the opening of the "Medicinska elektronika" Banja Luka affair, Golić pleaded guilty by agreement with the Special Prosecutor's Office of the RS for committing the criminal offense of negligent work in office, in connection with illegal actions related to the manipulation of "Medicinska elektronika" shares prices. 

The prison sentence included the time spent in custody from March 23 to June 29, so he became a free man even after the verdict.

Members of the Management Board of the Centre for Information and Recognition of Documents in Higher Education are elected for a term of three years with the possibility of re-election, provided that the initial appointment is carried out in phases, so that one-third of the members are re-elected or re-appointed each year.

The Management Board decides by a majority vote of the total number of members, provided that such a majority includes one vote from each constituent nation.
