Candidate for Mayor of Trebinje is a doctor who tore up his diploma

(Patria) - The coalition "Trebinje Deserves Better", gathered around the Party of Democratic Progress and the Serb Democratic Party, symbolically presented at 5 to 12 today, the candidate for Mayor of Trebinje in the extraordinary elections on February 17. The candidate of this coalition is Dr. Saša Borjan, a Trebinje doctor, who a few days ago was transferred to the non-medical sector of the Trebinje Emergency Service due to political persecution.

"Today, gathered here, we once again say that Republika Srpska and Trebinje have become part of such a system that a doctor must tear up his diploma due to political persecution. However, I am not important here, the fight against this perverted system is important, and my candidacy is directed in that direction to show that Trebinje can and deserves better. After two and a half years of work as the head of the Emergency Service, I left visible results behind me – a renovated building, a canopy built for safer patient transfers, a state-of-the-art ambulance with complete resuscitation equipment, a parking lot built... For nine years, my mission as a doctor has been to serve our fellow citizens, and I will be guided by the same mission as mayor," said Dr. Saša Borjan.

PDP President Branislav Borenović said that today's gathering is a sign of support for Dr. Borjan and a condemnation of regime persecution against dissenters:

"We gathered today at this sacred place to condemn the regime's persecution of Dr. Saša Borjan, who, with his knowledge and expertise, wants to help the citizens of Trebinje and Republika Srpska," said Borenović.

"Together with our coalition partners, we welcome the courage of this young man, who is a symbol of strength, expertise, and justice. We call on all free-thinking and courageous people to support him on February 17, when we expect his magnificent victory, a victory of Herzegovinian heroism and Serbian defiance."

Vukota Govedarica, president of the SDS, said that the extraordinary elections in Trebinje are much more than a conflict of different party policies:

"These are elections in which the fight is led, on one side, by democracy and justice, led by the people whom Dr. Borjan will lead, and on the other side, by the monolithic thinking and ruin into which the regime is pushing us. Saša Borjan is the image of a young, educated man who wants only one thing – to live in his country, which is normal and cherishes sincere and true values," said Govedarica.
