How young Alomerović views work: Only a person who works can be useful to themselves and others

Emir Alomerović, as a student of the Secondary School for Textile, Leather and Design in Sarajevo, completed his practical training at the private company Fafs Leder, which produces high-quality leather footwear. Upon finishing school, the Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton helped him secure employment at this company. 

About his current job, the twenty-two-year-old Emir says: 

- I was lucky to do my practical training at the company „Fafs Leder“ and gain knowledge in the profession I was educated for. Right after finishing secondary school, I got the opportunity to get a job and I took it. In a relatively short period of time, I secured my livelihood and an independent life. I associate my future plans with this company and I believe that as a good worker, I will have the opportunity to advance. 

In the continuation, Alomerović points out that he is pleased that his work engagement also reflects on his private life. 

- Only a person who works can be useful to themselves and others, and not a burden to their parents, which I often see among my friends. My correct choice of profession, but also the support of the employer and the Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton, is a combination that secured me permanent employment. I also contribute to my family, and my parents are happy that I do not depend on them – says Alomerović.  

The company Fafs Leder, with the help of the Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton, employed a large number of workers. Most of them are now in permanent employment. 

This year, unfortunately, the management of Fafs Leder could not find workers who were interested in joining their successful team. Although they had approved funds under the Program for Co-financing the Employment of Trainees, the management of Fafs Leder had to abandon this project. From Fafs Leder, they believe that all of the above speaks more about the work ethic of young people, who have higher expectations than what the real situation on the labor market in BiH offers.

opened Center for Employers

The Public Institution Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton, at the beginning of August at the address Ložionička 5, opened a Center for Employers with the aim of improving the quality of services to employers and modernizing the entire Employment Service. The commitment of the management of the Employment Service is that for successful communication with employers, it is necessary to have a central place where they can get all the necessary information about the activities of the Employment Service, ways of applying for its programs, selection of personnel they are looking for, issuing work permits, and everything else that interests them. 

Professional and technical support for the establishment of the Center for Employers was provided by the Swiss Government through the Youth Employment Project (YEP).
