How Media in RS Shape Public Opinion: RS More Durable than the Kingdom of Yugoslavia

The media of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik are one of his strongest weapons, many analysts agree. Thanks to them, Dodik has managed to stay in power all this time, despite the catastrophic policy pursued by his SNSD, writes the Patria news agency.

In the absence of answers to the difficult economic situation in RS, as well as the debt that has exceeded five and a half billion KM, the authorities in RS bombard the public with entirely irrelevant articles. The majority of media, including the public service RTRS, only publish positive news, while catastrophic ones are silenced or distorted information is provided.

- Dodik is a master of manipulation. He even controls the weather forecast on TV. The announcer on the public television service almost dares not announce rain; the weather in RS must always be clear and warm. I don't understand how Dodik manages to manipulate so many people – said a member of an opposition party in RS recently.

The daily newspaper PressRS published on Monday the information that Republika Srpska is more durable than the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nedeljko Čubrilović, stated that Republika Srpska has lasted longer than the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and that there is room for dealing with Republika Srpska as a historical fact, writes this newspaper.

In the second part of the text, the newspaper also quotes former President of the National Assembly of RS, Dragan Kalinić. Kalinić counts among the political values of RS the fact that he and Dodik have never fought, even though they often had different opinions. That should be the greatest mirror of Serbian unity, writes Patria.
