How Mahalac Loves: Sarajevo Will See It on February 6, Tuzla on February 12

A new theatre hit from the creative workshop of author Indira Kučuk-Sorguč, which in just ten performances completely captivated audiences in Sarajevo, Split and Zenica, will play again in Sarajevo at the Chamber Theatre 55 on Friday, February 6, reports the Patria news agency.  

Already on February 11, Mahalac will make everyone laugh in his hometown, Zavidovići, while the Tuzla audience will have the opportunity to see it premiered on February 12 at the Bosnian Cultural Centre. It will also be performed in Žepče on February 15, and this hit play will also be staged in Kalesija on February 28.

For Valentine's Day, February 14, the Croatian audience will also laugh at mahala jokes during a laughter marathon in the Varaždin arena.

"That's how it is, my dear, when Mahalac loves" is the title of the new original work by Kučuk-Sorguč, who with the plays "I, the Mahala Woman" and "I, the Mahalac" achieved unprecedented success on the "boards that mean life".

The lead role is played by the best young comedian in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nerman Mahmutović, while his European wife, or rather a pretentious Bosnian woman, is played by the outstanding Negra Čičić.

Mahalac is depicted on the poster as a Bosnian court jester who tells the world that the emperor is naked and mocks all the false values that have been adopted as true today.

He says: "Leave me alone, leave me the last Bosnian primitive" in the play "That's how it is, my dear, when Mahalac loves" because he does not accept the perversity of today, he prefers to be primitive rather than modern and depraved, he is always caught between three fires – between his mother and his wife and the environment – that is, his people who always have something to spice things up.
