How to achieve more efficient confiscation of illegally acquired property

As part of the 8th Expert Advisory for Prosecutors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, held in Neum, the Crime Policy Research Centre (CPRC) organized a special panel on the topic "Confiscation of property proceeds acquired through criminal offences", funded by the Government of the United Kingdom, reports the Patria news agency.

The panel featured numerous representatives of domestic judicial institutions, the academic community, and the Federal Agency for Management of Confiscated Property, who discussed the application of the Law on Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property through Criminal Offences and the novelties that this legal regulation brings to the practice of detecting and prosecuting corruption and other serious forms of criminal offences.

With the aim of exchanging experiences and knowledge among professionals from the professional community in BiH and the region, the panel also included presentations by prosecutors from the Special Prosecutor's Office of the Republika Srpska, the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) of the State Attorney's Office of the Republic of Croatia, the Special Prosecutor's Office for the Suppression of Organised Crime, Corruption, Terrorism and War Crimes of Montenegro, and others.

The goal of this panel is to improve the practices of confiscating property proceeds acquired through criminal offences through the exchange of information, experiences and knowledge, as well as establishing contacts and cooperation, in order to establish the principle that crime does not pay.
