How BiH Can Move Forward: Best to Beat Both Slovakia and Armenia

With a 72:88 loss to Sweden, the BiH basketball team has complicated its qualification for the Mundobasket 2019 qualifiers two rounds before the end of the pre-qualifiers.

Duško Vujošević's players will need away victories against Slovakia and Armenia for a secure placement, or a victory against Slovakia and two home losses for Sweden against Armenia and Slovakia, which is unrealistic to expect.

If the Dragons win against Slovakia in the next round, and the Swedes beat the Armenians, all three teams will enter the final round with a 3-2 record, meaning Armenia and BiH will decide who advances in a head-to-head match.

In the event that Armenia beats Sweden and BiH beats Slovakia, Armenia would secure qualification, and our players would have a 3-2 record. Sweden would be 2-3, but in the final round, our boys would still need a victory in Armenia, because if they closed the circle with Sweden at 3-3, the Scandinavian team would advance due to a better head-to-head record.

A victory in Slovakia and a loss in Armenia will only lead us further if Sweden loses both home games; in other combinations, we need two victories.

Our team's next match is against Slovakia on August 16.
