Kakanj Heroes Who Rescued Residents from Rubble Honored with Plaques and 100 KM Each

Kakanj Mayor Nermin Mandra today received in his office the heroes who risked their lives saving distressed fellow citizens during the landslide that hit the Bare settlement on Sunday evening, claiming one life and injuring three, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The Mayor received firefighters, police officers, citizens, and members of the RMU Kakanj Rescue Squad in his office, who rescued the residents of Bare from under the rubble.

On Sunday, a powerful landslide hit the Bare settlement near Kakanj, destroying several houses and damaging more. A woman was trapped under the rubble of one house and died immediately, while three people were injured. 

In addition to plaques for bravery, the Mayor awarded the Kakanj heroes with cash prizes of 100 KM.

Firefighters recognized for their bravery and dedication were Amir Hadžić, Kemal Šolbić, Goran Srdić, Irfan Jašarspahić, Elvir Muflizović, Faruk Bečirhodžić, and Halim Kulović (commander).

Plaques for bravery and cash prizes were awarded to police officers from the Kakanj Police Station Vedran Bloudek, Asmir Hasagić, and Haris Goralija.

Members of the Rescue Squad of the Kakanj Brown Coal Mine Nusret Ganić, Mehmed Durmiš, Haris Velagić, Eldin Berbić, and Muamer Goralija were also awarded.

Plaques and cash prizes were also received by Kakanj civilians who participated in the rescue operation: Edis Hadrović, Admir Karamuja, and Adin Karamuja, reports NAP.

Plaques for bravery and dedication were also awarded to the following entities: Kakanj Professional Firefighting Unit, Federal Civil Protection Administration, Kakanj Health Center, ZDK Ministry of Interior Police Directorate, Kakanj Police Station, and RMU Kakanj Rescue Squad.
