Thousands of people will welcome the current fastest man in the world, Amel Tuka, who is most likely to travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically to Kakanj to his parents, on August 9, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
The Mayor Nermin Mandra, as well as the entire municipal administration, are working rapidly on preparations for the champion's welcome. In addition to the residents of Kakanj, the champion will also be welcomed by Bosnians and Herzegovinians from other parts of the country on the main city street.
- Amel deserves a dignified welcome, and that is why we have initiated activities to organize a welcome where we will greet our champion in his city of Kakanj, a city that deservedly bears the epithet – the city of champions - said the Mayor of the Municipality, Mandra.
- Save your voices for the welcome so we can greet him thunderously, prepare your palms for strong applause, carry love for Kakanj and the homeland of BiH in your hearts, because he will do the same, come to the welcome for our champion - Mandra conveyed, adding that the champion, Kakanj resident Amel Tuka, will be welcomed in his city as befits champions.
Tuka is currently the fastest athlete in the world over 800 meters. In just four days, he won two gold medals at competitions in Monaco and Switzerland. At the prestigious Diamond League, which he ran on the 17th of this month with a time of 1:42.51 in the 800 meters, he captivated all athletics fans, achieved the 10th best time in the history of athletics, and broke his personal best and the record of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
His parents live in Kakanj, and the Mayor of Kakanj, Nermin Mandra, along with the Mayor of Zenica, Husein Smajlović, are among the few in the country who support the champion.
The exact date of the spectacular welcome for Tuka in Kakanj will be announced later.
From August 22 to 30, Tuka will compete in the World Athletics Championships held in Beijing, writes NAP.
