Kakanj Shrouded in Grief: Citizens Asked to Adjust All Activities to the Difficult Moment

Following the tragedy at the Kakanj mine, in which four miners died and two were injured, the Municipality of Kakanj has called on citizens, catering establishments, associations, sports clubs to adjust all activities to the current difficult and painful moment, reports the Patria news agency.

Dear citizens of Kakanj,

Our town is shrouded in grief today after the news of the mining accident at the Begići-Bištrani pit. Kakanj deeply regrets the accident, the pain and sorrow are immeasurable, and in thoughts and prayers, Kakanj is with the families of the tragically killed miners.

Grief is our fate and our trial, therefore in pain we must be in solidarity with those who are suffering the most today, and those are the families of the deceased miners.

In our great pain, we must be dignified. Therefore, the Municipality of Kakanj suggests that all public institutions and enterprises and other entities cancel all events planned for the coming days, the holding of which is not appropriate for the current difficult moment for all citizens of Kakanj.

We also call on other entities, catering establishments, citizens' associations, sports clubs and citizens to adjust all their activities to the difficult and painful moment in which Kakanj mourns its comrades.

This suggestion particularly refers to playing music. We call on citizens not to celebrate and honk on the streets, throw firecrackers, etc., in the event of tonight's victory of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team. Of course, the people of Kakanj would act this way even without our suggestion, but it is our duty to suggest it nonetheless.

Of course, a victory of the national team would be an encouragement to all of us in this difficult moment, but the pain is truly great and Kakanj will, we believe, with genuine piety and solidarity, show its grief, but also the strength to continue overcoming difficult life trials and challenges, states the call from the Municipality of Kakanj.
