Kajganić: We are investigating who tipped off Galić about the investigation, he crossed into Croatia illegally

(Patria) - On 08.07.2024, by order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, the Assistant Commander of the Trebinje Border Police Unit, Milović Blagoje, and BiH and Croatian citizen, Bago Ivica, were deprived of liberty due to organized crime, illegal trade in excise goods, abuse of office or authority, and other criminal offenses.

The mentioned investigation is being conducted by the BiH Prosecutor's Office together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, while the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA is involved in the implementation of the deprivation of liberty activities.

In addition to other individuals, the investigation also includes the Deputy Director of SIPA, Galić Zoran, on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of receiving gifts and other benefits and abuse of office or authority, during the period when he held the position of Director of the BiH Border Police.

Furthermore, there are grounds for suspicion that an as yet unknown person from the aforementioned institutions involved in the investigation provided the suspect Galić Zoran with information about the investigation and planned measures and actions against him, thereby committing the criminal offense of violation of secrecy of proceedings. The BiH Prosecutor's Office, together with domestic institutions and international partners, will conduct an investigation to identify and prosecute the said person in accordance with the law.

After receiving the information, the suspect Galić illegally crossed the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 08.07.2024, in the afternoon, and fled to the Republic of Croatia, where he is currently located.

The investigation into this high-level corruption case is ongoing, and is being conducted with the direct support of EUROPOL, according to a statement from Chief Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić.
