Kajan: Elektroprivreda HZHB and Hrvatska pošta do not employ a single Bosniak

(Patria) - Sanel Kajan, DF representative in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, addressed the public and public companies today, asking about the representation of Bosniaks in these companies in Stolac.

"As an elected representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina Federation, referring to Articles 11 and 116 of the Rules of Procedure, and within the scope of my representative duties, I am asking the following questions:

What is the total number of employees in the business unit of JP Elektroprivreda HZHB in Stolac?
How many of them are employees of Bosniak nationality?

Hrvatska pošta Mostar

What is the total number of employees in the branches of Hrvatska pošta Mostar in the area of the city of Stolac?
How many employees are of Bosniak nationality?


Explanation:

At the end of last month, peaceful protests by Bosniaks were held in Stolac, who publicly pointed to what they described as three decades of systemic discrimination they are exposed to in this city. Although Bosniaks make up almost 50% of Stolac's population, they are almost completely invisible in public institutions – both in terms of employment and participation in decision-making.

It is particularly worrying if the information indicating that not a single Bosniak is employed in certain public companies – founded by the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina – turns out to be true. According to information presented to the public, which I wish to verify through these representative questions:

Not a single Bosniak is employed in the business unit of JP Elektroprivreda HZHB in Stolac. Not a single Bosniak is employed in the branches of Hrvatska pošta Mostar in the Stolac area either. Also, there are no Bosniaks in director or deputy director positions in public institutions in the Stolac area. At the same time, funds allocated to religious, cultural, and educational institutions of Bosniaks are negligible or completely absent.

On this occasion, I am focusing exclusively on public companies and institutions founded by the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, although discrimination, according to the Bosniaks of Stolac, exists particularly at the local and cantonal levels, which should be addressed by those within their jurisdiction.

I believe that if this information is confirmed, it would represent a blatant example of institutional discrimination, which is absolutely unacceptable and contrary to the principles of equality and equal participation of all peoples and citizens in public life.

On this occasion, I reiterate my position that it is completely unacceptable for public companies, founded by the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to have an exclusive national designation or prefix in their name. Public companies financed from the budget of all citizens of the Federation of BiH must be inclusive and cannot bear the name of belonging to only one nation. Such practice further deepens the feeling of exclusion and inequality among citizens.

I expect accurate and complete answers from JP Elektroprivreda HZHB and HP Mostar.
