Staff Reinforcement of the Armed Forces of BiH

(Patria) - The Air Force and Air Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina has recently achieved important steps in the field of military-professional training of deficient personnel.

A member of the 2nd Helicopter Squadron of the Air Force and Air Defense Brigade, Lieutenant Armin Adžem, recently successfully completed a five-month course in Instrumental Aerodrome Control and a two-and-a-half-month course in Approach Control Procedures in the Republic of Italy. The training was conducted entirely in accordance with the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and EU air traffic control standards, and was focused on improving operational techniques of airspace control.

With this, Lieutenant Adžem became the first certified air traffic controller within the Armed Forces of BiH to have completed courses that qualify him, according to ICAO standards, to provide air navigation control at an airport equipped with instrument approach or instrument departure procedures, as well as airspace control without the use of radar.

Additionally, a member of the 2nd Helicopter Squadron, Captain Semir Tica, successfully completed the Inter-European Aviation Squadron Officer School, which he attended for one month in the Federal Republic of Germany. The main theme of this course was teamwork, leadership, and the relationship between leader and follower.

The training participants were officers and non-commissioned officers, members of various branches and units from NATO member countries and partner countries from Europe and Africa. The course was completed by 43 participants from 19 countries, and Captain Semir Tica received recognition as the best course participant. Thus, the Air Force and Air Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of BiH gained another future commander trained to high NATO standards, and the Armed Forces of BiH once again proved that they have personnel who can compete on equal footing with the most developed armies in the world.
