A telegram was once the only way to quickly and reliably convey important news to someone, send congratulations, or share your sympathy in the most difficult moments of loved ones.

It can be said that the written message transmitted from sender to recipient via mail had the same function as today's SMS, writes the BH news agency Patria.

However, with the advent of telephones, the internet, electronic mail, and especially social networks, the telegram has been almost completely pushed out of use. Postal workers from BH Pošte delivered just over a hundred of them last year. In 2013, they had 151 telegrams, the year before 170, and in 2011, they delivered 171 telegrams to addresses.

On the BH Pošta website, they still remind that a telegram can be sent by calling the phone number 1202 or at the post office, at the counter. A telegram can be: ordinary, luxury, or remittance.

A luxury telegram is a special service of delivering a telegram on a special form, suitable for congratulations on national and other holidays, celebrations, joyous events, anniversaries, as well as when expressing condolences.

A remittance telegram is a telegram by which the sender designates a certain amount of money for payment to the recipient and serves as a payment document. This telegram can contain a special message for the recipient. As a rule, the telegram is delivered exclusively to the recipient in person.

If the sender wishes their telegram to be delivered on a specific day, which BH Pošte enables, you should know that the maximum period from receipt to delivery of the telegram is 30 days.
