One of the most prominent Bosniak intellectuals, Prof. Dr. Munib Maglajlić, passed away this morning in Sarajevo due to a heart attack, reports the Patria News Agency.
He was born in Banja Luka in 1945. He graduated in Native Language and Literature and History in 1966.
He graduated in Native Language and Literature at the Higher Pedagogical School in Banja Luka, and in 1970 he obtained a diploma in the study group History of Yugoslav Literatures and Serbo-Croatian Language at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo.
He received his Master's degree in 1974 at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, and defended his doctoral dissertation titled "Literary-Historical and Literary-Theoretical Definition of the Muslim Folk Ballad" in 1980.
From 1994, he was a full professor at the Department of South Slavic Literatures of the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo until his retirement. His works are of exceptional importance for the culture and history of literature in our homeland.
