Jusufranić and Petrović acquitted

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo acquitted former officials of the Public Utility Company "Gradski saobraćaj" (GRAS) Ibrahim Jusufranić and Branislav Petrović of guilt for abuse of position, writes Detektor.ba.

Jusufranić and Petrović were acquitted of charges that from 2001 to mid-2006, as responsible persons, they abused their official positions and authorities and caused damage to the budget of the Canton of Sarajevo.

Presiding judge Rozita Šimić stated that Jusufranić and Petrović could not be found guilty because they were accused of acts that were already a "res judicata".

"The prosecution had previously suspended the investigation against both of them for the acts they were charged with," said judge Šimić.

As stated in the verdict, Jusufranić was acquitted of causing damage to the company and the canton exceeding 800,000 marks, which is how much GRAS paid the company "Elesprom" for equipment and car washes that were never installed or put into operation.

The charge that they caused damage to the Canton and the company in the amount of nearly 100,000 marks, which is the amount of benefit obtained by the company "Hellner and More" when concluding a marketing contract, was also rejected, and Petrović was acquitted of forging documents.

The trial of Jusufranić and Petrović began in April 2016.

There is a possibility of appeal against this verdict.
