Jugoslav Brdar: Declaration in Livno was proposed only to attract media attention

LIVNO, (Patria) – The Assembly of Canton 10 adopted a Declaration rejecting the Hague verdict against former high officials of the Croatian Community of Herzeg-Bosnia as well as the construct of a joint criminal enterprise handed down by that court.

The Declaration states that "the HZ HB was not established with the intention of secession, but with the intention of defending Croatian territories."

"Croats in BiH are a constituent people and we will not allow further attempts at systemic discrimination against Croats," reads, among other things, the adopted declaration.

The Bosniak Caucus raised the issue of vital national interest, after which the constitutionality of the Declaration will be decided by the Constitutional Court of the Federation of BiH.

SDP Commissioner for Canton 10, Jugoslav Brdar, believes that the Declaration is not aimed at protecting the rights of Croats, but solely at attracting media attention and alarming HDZ's voter base.

„As such, it could have been adopted in the Assembly of the West Herzegovina Canton (ZHŽ), without fear of being rejected by another constituent people because that canton is nationally homogeneous. But that would not have sparked media interest, let alone that of the US ambassador,“ Brdar believes, adding that he suspects the Declaration was written „in the HDZ kitchen and literally thrown into the Assembly in Livno.“

„I wouldn't be surprised if it was pre-arranged with the SDA for them to raise the vital national interest. And as such, it achieved its goal among both Croats and Bosniaks. In film jargon - a classic. And the Serbs remained reserved. That doesn't concern us. A scenario we have been watching for a quarter of a century. It reminds me of a scene from the beginning of the war in Slovenia, only the actors are different. SDA: they pretend to want a third entity, secession and such, and we won't allow it. HDZ: here we want a third entity, a channel in Croatian and such, and they won't allow it,“ Brdar said in a comment for the Patria news agency. He emphasizes that during this time, the joint criminal enterprise „directed by HDZ-SDA, through which the child allowance of 30 KM was passed in that assembly, falls into oblivion.“

The adoption of the Declaration in the Livno Canton was also condemned by the OHR and the US Embassy in BiH, calling on politicians to turn to the future and not the past.
