80th Anniversary of the Igman March

(Patria) - Organized by SABNOR BiH in Sarajevo Canton, the 80th anniversary of the Igman March will be held on January 29, 2022.

The following program is planned for the commemoration: gathering at the underpass in Hadžići, laying flowers at the monument in Brezovača, forming a column and starting the march towards Veliko Polje.

Upon the column's arrival, flowers will be laid at the Mazište and Veliko Polje site, followed by the start of the ceremony and laying flowers at the monument on Veliko Polje.

After the program, there will be military bean stew and socializing.

In previous years, the commemoration of this event has also attracted the attention of many nature lovers and visitors to Mount Igman.

The Igman March was carried out on the night of January 27-28, 1942, in deep snow and temperatures of minus 38 degrees Celsius, with 800 members of the First Proletarian Brigade marching for 17 hours. On the eve of the march, the First Proletarian Brigade found itself surrounded by strong German forces on Romanija. The Brigade Staff decided to undertake a risky but only possible movement. The march participants passed by Sarajevo and across Igman, moving towards Foča, then a free territory.
