Josipović voted among the first, called on voters to turn out in large numbers

Polling stations for the second round of voting for the President of Croatia opened this morning at 7 AM and will close at 7 PM, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Around 3.8 million Croatian voters will decide who will be the new president of Croatia.

In the second round of elections, voters can choose between the current president Ivo Josipović and Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.

Voting for the president can take place at 6,352 polling stations, with 6,260 in Croatia and 92 abroad.

At 8 PM, the State Election Commission will begin publishing the first data on election results on its website, which will be continuously updated. The commission will hold a press conference at 10 PM to announce the first unofficial election results.

Ivo Josipović voted shortly after the polling stations opened, at 7:15 AM at his polling station in Palmotićeva Street in Zagreb.

- I came out among the first precisely to encourage our fellow citizens to exercise their right to vote, go to the polls, and cast their vote for the candidate they believe is the best - Josipović told reporters.

Josipović added that he expects a record high turnout and wants to be an example for everyone to go to the polls.
He also gave a brief statement on relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- We have a stable foreign policy, including in relation to Bosnia and Herzegovina. I will continue to support Bosnia and Herzegovina's path towards the European Union, and I will continue to be a friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and strive to help achieve an agreement within BiH on the organization of BiH and on the equal rights of citizens. Of course, this is an internal matter for BiH, but friends are always welcome. And of course, I will continue cooperation with all peoples, especially with the Croatian people in BiH - said Josipović.

Regarding relations with Serbia, he added that there are no changes there either.

- Serbia is our neighboring country, a friendly country, we have many open issues, and these issues need to be resolved. We will support Serbia on its path to the EU, but it must fulfill all the conditions that we in Croatia have also fulfilled - said Josipović.
