Josipović voted, then broke election silence

Croatian President and presidential candidate Ivo Josipović voted on Sunday morning at 7:15 AM in the 2nd round of presidential elections, at his polling station in Palmotićeva Street in Zagreb, writes Index.hr. reported by the news agency Patria. 

Josipović and his wife Tatjana were among the first to arrive at the polling station.

"I came out among the first precisely to encourage our fellow citizens to exercise their right to vote, to go to the polls and cast their vote for the candidate they consider to be the best," Josipović told reporters.

Josipović added that he expects a record high turnout and wants to be an incentive for everyone to go to the polls with his example.

Reporters were interested in his stance towards BiH.

"We have a stable foreign policy, including towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. I will continue to support Bosnia and Herzegovina's path towards the European Union, I will also continue to be a friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and strive to help reach an agreement within BiH on the structure of BiH and on the equality of citizens. Of course, this is an internal matter of BiH, but friends are always welcome. And of course, I will continue cooperation with all peoples, and especially with the Croatian people in BiH," said Josipović.

When it comes to relations with Serbia, he added that there are no changes there either.

"Serbia is our neighboring country, a friendly country, we have many open issues and these issues need to be resolved. We will support Serbia on its path to the EU, but it must fulfill all the conditions that we in Croatia have fulfilled," said Josipović.

The Central Election Committee told Index that Josipović violated the election silence because he spoke about his program. However, as we know, there are no sanctions for that.
