Search Continues for 73 Missing Residents of Hadžići, Bosniaks and Croats, Who Disappeared in May 1992

(Patria) - Organized by the Association for Tracing Captured and Missing Persons from Hadžići and the Municipality of Hadžići, the Day of the Missing of the municipality was marked yesterday.

The Day of the Missing of the Municipality of Hadžići was an opportunity to once again remember all those who, during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and especially during May 1992, were taken from the camps of the so-called Army of Republika Srpska in Hadžići to an unknown location, and whose fate has not been clarified to this day.

The commemoration program, in addition to paying tribute and laying flowers at the Central Memorial in Hadžići, this year also includes the memorial installation "73", composed of 73 empty chairs and 73 photographs with the names of the missing residents of Hadžići.

According to testimonies, several of our female fellow citizens, Bosniaks, were victims of brutal violence – raped, beaten, and finally massacred, their bodies thrown into sewage manholes. Then they were relocated again to an unknown location.

In 2025, the search continues for 73 persons of Bosniak and Croatian nationality, aged 19 to 70.

During the war, Hadžići was under the occupation of the so-called Army of Republika Srpska. During that period, about 250 civilians, mostly Bosniaks, were killed and disappeared. The largest number of them disappeared at the end of May 1992.

The families of the missing still do not lose hope that the remains of their loved ones will be found and buried with dignity, although the results of the activities of the competent institutions so far, including the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of BiH, do not meet their expectations.
