Decision still pending on the burial of 82 unidentified victims in Potočari

SREBRENICA, (Patria) - A working meeting of the leadership of the Organizational Committee for the commemoration of the 11 July 1995, 25th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the "UN Safe Area" Srebrenica with the presidents of subcommittees was held today at the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center.

The agenda of the meeting included information on the activities carried out so far in preparation for the commemoration of the 11 July 1995, 25th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the "UN Safe Area" Srebrenica. It was stated at the meeting that preparations for the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the genocide are proceeding according to plan.

Among other things, today's meeting discussed the information that the funeral prayer and burial for 82 unidentified victims of the genocide will take place on July 11. For the purpose of informing the public, it was stated that there is a proposal for the burial of unidentified persons. The proposal for the burial of 82 unidentified victims was submitted at the first meeting of the Organizational Committee by Amor Mašović, member of the Collegium of Directors of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH. It was then stated that the Organizational Committee would make a decision at one of the subsequent meetings. The Organizational Committee for the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the "UN Safe Area" Srebrenica has still not made a decision on the burial of unidentified persons. The decision will be made at the next meeting of the Organizational Committee, scheduled for March 12, 2020.

Due to all of the above, on behalf of the Organizational Committee for the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica, we ask Mr. Mašović, as well as all members of the Organizational Committee, to refrain from public statements until certain decisions are confirmed by the Organizational Committee.
