Another 70 elementary school students mastered the basics of swimming

The Municipality of Centar allocated 10,000 KM this year for the continuation of the free swimming school for elementary school students from its area, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Public Institution “Center for Sport and Recreation“ at the Olympic pool Otoka, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Namely, after the summer swimming school for elementary school students from Centar, which lasted from June 20 to July 7, 2016, was successfully completed, and due to the great interest of children, the Municipality of Centar and the Public Institution “Center for Sport and Recreation“ organized the continuation of this project. The second cycle of the swimming school was carried out in three shifts: the first shift from July 11 to 15, the second from July 18 to 22, and the third from July 25 to 29. Approximately 70 elementary school students from the Centar municipality attended the free swimming lessons, and the principals of their elementary schools selected the participants.

Thanks to this, primarily useful project, students had the opportunity to attend swimming lessons for two hours, five days a week. Transportation was organized for the participants of the summer swimming school. The swimming school was led by physical education professor Adis Mušanović from the “Center for Sport and Recreation“.

- After the first cycle of the swimming school was completed, in which 105 elementary school students participated, and the number of interested students was much higher, we decided to continue the project with the financial support of the Municipality of Centar. Thanks to the funds allocated by the Municipality of Centar, another 70 elementary school students mastered the basics of swimming, said Mušanović.

The goal of the project is to enable students to use their free time during the summer holidays for sports activities and to master and improve the basic elements of swimming under the expert guidance of physical and health education professors.

The Municipality of Centar allocated 18,000 KM for the implementation of the swimming school this year.
